LAHORE: The Counter Narcotics Force Punjab launched a major operation in a village near the border and reportedly made some arrests on Thursday night.

The arrested were stated to relatives of a provincial minister.

It was learnt the minister was also present there at the time the force raided the houses amid resistance by local residents.

The operation was launched on the basis of intelligence reports that some people were involved in drug trafficking and ran a major network.

An official of the PCNF confirmed to Dawn the minister also lived in the village but his residence was not the prime target of the raiding team.

He said the force took into custody some suspected drug suppliers but their ringleader managed to flee from his house.

He said the force would continue the operation till arrest of other suspects.
