Four more killed in ‘encounters’

SARGODHA: Four suspects were killed and as many others were arrested in injured condition in separate encounters in different parts of the province.

In one incident, three alleged gang members were killed, while four of their accomplices managed to escape in a police encounter in the Lilla area.

According to the police, in a joint operation by the Sargodha Crime Control Department (CCD) led by SP Nasrullah Khan Niazi and the local police three suspects allegedly involved in house robberies were killed near the Bhera motorway interchange.

The official vehicle of CCD SP was damaged during the encounter while he and two officials escaped unharmed.

Police identified two of the three suspects as Sulaiman and Sohail and claimed that they were involved in several cases of house robbery, robbery and other serious crimes in various districts of Punjab. Weapons, vehicles and other evidence were recovered, police claimed.

The bodies of the deceased suspects had been shifted to the hospital for postmortem and search for their accomplices was ongoing.

The Punjab CCD head and IGP announced a cash reward for the team.

TOBA TEK SINGH: An alleged robber was killed during an “encounter” with Waryamwala police in Shorkot tehsil of Jhang district, late on Tuesday night.

The police claimed that four suspects riding two motorcycles were signaled to stop at a picket near the twin canals, but they allegedly opened fire on the policemen, who retaliated.

After a crossfire between the two sides, the police claimed to have found one of the suspects lying injured on the ground with multiple bullet wounds “inflicted by his fleeing accomplices”.

The police say the suspect succumbed to his injuries on the spot. He was later identified as Imran, a resident of Jhang, wanted in a number of robbery cases.

Meanwhile, in Nankana Sahib district, an alleged robber was arrested in injured condition after an exchange of fire between Warburton police and three suspects on Kachi Kothi Road.

The police claimed that the suspect,identified as Ibrar, wanted in six robbery cases, was injured by the firing of his own accomplices, who managed to flee.

He arrested and shifted to hospital for treatment.

SAHIWAL: The CCD and Ghala Mandi Police arrested three injured outlaws during encounters in two separate incidents within the last 24 hours.

In one incident, police claimed that a CCD team intercepted three outlaws riding a motorcycle near Chichawatni Sharqi Bypass. The suspects allegedly opened fire on the police van, prompting retaliation and the exchange continued for about 15 minutes.

Police claimed that one suspect, identified as Irfan Pand of Meer Abad in Chichawatni, was injured and arrested. His two companions, Ali Raza of village 39/12-L and Salman alias Noor of Ahmed Nagar in Chichawatni, fled under the cover of darkness.

The injured suspect was shifted to Chichawatni THQ and a case was registered on the complaint of CCD Inspector Mansoor Khalid.

In the other incident, the Ghala Mandi Police, acting on a tip-off, raided a site near village 86 East where three alleged drug traffickers on motorcycles were distributing narcotics.

Police claimed that the suspects opened fire on the police van leading to a 20-minute exchange. Police claimed that two traffickers, Abdul Qayyum and Shafiq Masih of PWD Quarters of Sahiwal city, were injured and arrested.

Police claimed to have recovered 1,240 grams of hashish, a 30-bore pistol, and cash from the scene.

Rescue 1122 shifted the injured suspects to the Sahiwal Teaching Hospital and a case was registered on the complaint of Sub-Inspector Rohail.
