PESHAWAR: A resident of the suburban Adizai area of Peshawar on Wednesday appealed to the provincial government to compensate his family for the destruction of three houses, insisting that neither he nor his relatives had any connection with militant activities.

Addressing a news conference at Peshawar Press Club, Imdad Khan, accompanied by his brothers, Sardar Khan, Jandad Khan and Jehangzeb Khan, said they belonged to the Khalil Mohmand tribe and had always stood by the country.

Mr Khan stated that his son, Hamza, now 24 years of age, had enrolled in a seminary in Swabi through friends to pursue Islamic education and had long remained detached from the family. He claimed that the family later learned through information provided by security and intelligence agencies that Hamza had allegedly established links with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan.

He said the family had severed all ties with Hamza and that he had formally disowned his son from all movable and immovable property in 2025.

“If my son is involved in any activity against Pakistan, I request the state to bring him to justice. The protection of Pakistan is our foremost priority,” he said.

Mr Khan further said that he had previously been arrested in connection with the case but was acquitted by an anti-terrorism court after all available evidence was examined.

He alleged that due to incorrect information, three family homes were recently blown up, causing losses worth millions of rupees.

He appealed to Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshall Asim Munir, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari to ensure payment of compensation for the damage caused to their houses.
