OKARA, July 8: A three-member team of tenants and police officials held talks on Saturday to ease tension at military farms that arose after the arrest of a tenant on Friday leading to the blockade of the GT Road.

The police team, led by DSP Syed Nazir Hussain, A-Division SHO Chaudhry Ashraf and B-Division SI Feroze Bhatti, held dialogues with tenants’ representatives — AMP secretary-general Nazim Mehr Abdul Sattar, media advisor Noor Nabi and Abdul Jabbar — at Chak 4/4-L.

It was agreed upon that cases registered against tenants would be withdrawn after investigation. While the people involved in these cases must join in the investigation.

It was also decided that in future no unwanted tenant would be arrested just to pile pressure on tenants. The tenants’ team offered DPO Dr Osman Anwar to hold an open kutchery at Chak 4/4-L, the AMP’s headquarters.
