Crackdown on drugs intensified in Punjab

LAHORE: The Punjab Counter Narcotics Force (CNF) claims to have conducted 52 successful operations over the past two weeks, foiling the trafficking of over 678kg narcotics and arresting 56 suspects.

According to the Punjab CNF director general, the recovered narcotics included 514kg hashish, 120kg opium, 20.5kg crystal meth (ice), 24kg cannabis, 138 grams of heroin, and 1,220 litres of liquor. In addition, 10 pistols were also recovered.

He stated the Punjab CNF had so far recovered narcotics worth Rs2.556 billion, totaling 22.8 tonnes.

The DG reiterated that indiscriminate operations against drug traffickers, smugglers, and other criminal elements would continue and all available resources would be utilised to protect the younger generation from the menace of narcotics.
