BAHAWALNAGAR: The district police officer (DPO) has terminated the station house officer of Fort Abbas Police Station from service for hiding facts in a murder case and forcibly retired the investigating officer (IO) over a faulty investigation in a murder case.

It is the SHO’s second dismissal within a few months. Previously, he was dismissed from service for flawed investigation into a murder case while serving as the B Division SHO but he was later reinstated.

According to sources, both officials were punished in the murder case of Faizan Mazhar, a resident of Chak 237/9-R. The case was registered on April 22 against Parveen, the owner of a beauty parlour, and two of her accomplices.

The FIR claimed that Parveen was a blackmailer who lured Faizan into her trap and demanded a large sum of money from him and when the demand was not met, she killed him with the help of Iftikhar and Gulfam.

According to police, SHO Nawaz Ahmed attempted to keep seniors away from the facts by making false statements rather than informing them about the facts. He was termed responsible for the delay in arresting the suspects, the failure to conduct a proper investigation and preserve evidence. Similarly, IO Riaz Ahmed, with the connivance of the SHO, attempted to twist the facts and paint the incident a suicide.

The DPO had formed a five-member JIT on April 29 in the case and it found SHO and the IO involved in twisting facts to save the suspects. Both officials failed to defend themselves before the DPO on June 4.
