KARACHI: A six-year-old girl died after falling into an open drain at Jogi Mor off National Highway on Tuesday, police said.

Shah Latif Town SHO Mumtaz Marwat said that the girl, Saba Mohammed Islam, a resident of Chakra Goth, Korangi, had gone to the Jogi Mor area along with her mother to meet relatives. She was playing outside their home when she fell into the uncovered drain.

The body was recovered and sent to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.

The SHO claimed doctors told the police that she died after inhaling toxic fumes inside the drain.
