ISLAMABAD: Taking notice of media reports that a foreign national was issued a Pakistani passport from the Awami Markaz Passport Office in Karachi, Director General of Immigration and Passports Chaudhry Muhammad Ali Randhawa has suspended the officials found responsible and ordered strict action against them.
The DG has also directed the zonal head Karachi to conduct a complete inquiry into the matter and submit a fact-finding report without delay.
The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports said a crackdown on corruption, irregularities and illegal issuance of passports was launched on the directives of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
It said the directorate was actively working to make the passport processing and issuance system more secure, transparent and foolproof to eliminate the possibility of any such irregularities.
