US President Donald Trump says he has been informed that Iran “shot down” an American Apache gunship, which was patrolling the Strait of Hormuz.

“There were two pilots involved, both are safe and uninjured,” he adds in a post on Truth Social. “Nevertheless, the United States must, of necessity, respond to this attack.”
