Hezbollah says the Iranian missile attacks against Israel were “in defence of the Lebanese people” and were a message of “commitment” from Tehran towards the country, Al Jazeera reports.

It recalls that Iran’s response came after Israel’s crimes towards Lebanon persisted, with “the full backing of the US administration” as the former continued to violate the agreed ceasefire and targeted the southern suburbs of the country.

“Therefore, the Iranian response came to emphasise that the interest of the stability of the region and its countries lies in exerting every effort to ensure that the agreements are upheld and that the Zionist enemy, before anyone else, adheres to them,” it says.

“This is the message that Iran wanted to send clearly and forcefully to all those concerned.”

The group also praised the action taken by Yemen’s Houthi rebels.

“This coincided with the appreciated support from the Ansar Allah movement in Yemen, within the framework of joint action to deter the Zionist entity,” it says, using the formal name for the movement.
