LANDSBERG: Seven Nazi war criminals executed here this morning [June 7] after a last-minute bid to secure a stay of execution had failed, were all reported to have died bravely. They were executed at 20-minute intervals in alphabetical order, from midnight. Each was allowed to make a 90-second speech before the trap opened beneath his feet. All said their execution should serve as a warning to the German people against their so called friends. The … men were sentenced to death three years ago by military tribunals but appeals started in several United States courts prolonged the suspense until the last moment.

[Meanwhile, the staff correspondent from Karachi reports,] Midnight queues waited in vain for their water for Sahar on the opening day of Ramazan in [the city]. The Municipal Corporation in previous years altered the water supply schedule to accommodate those keeping fast. This year the schedule remains unchanged — 6 to 8.30 in the morning and 4 to 6 in the evening.
