TOBA TEK SINGH: Three suspects who were involved in the attack on PML-N MPA retired Col Sardar Ayub Khan Gadhi last month were shot dead in an alleged encounter with the Crime Control Department near Chak 184 GB-Rajana in Toba district.
According to the CCD claims, a team was on patrol near Soneri Bangla when they signalled seven suspicious motorcycle riders to stop but they opened fire on the personnel.
During the shooting, Sohail Afzal Gadhi, a resident of Chak 259-GB and Imran Gadhi, a resident of Chak 184-GB, were killed instantly. They were among the main suspects nominated in the case for attacking and injuring the MPA and killing his four aides last month.The third suspect who died in this encounter was identified as Ghulam Shabbir Daultana, a resident of Luddan (Vehari).
According to police, Daultana was a proclaimed offender. Police said all three were killed by the firing of their accomplices.
Two of their accomplices were arrested also while the remaining escaped.
During the alleged encounter, two constables, Muhammad Saqlain and Hasnain Raza, were hit by bullets but they were wearing bulletproof vests and remained safe while an ASI Aamir Shahzad was injured.
BAHAWALPUR: Three suspects were killed in alleged encounters with police in Bahawalpur and Okara districts.
The Yazman City police killed a drug peddler, a proclaimed offender (PO), in an encounter in which three police officials also suffered injuries.
On a tip-off, the police reached a house in Chak No.103/ DB where Hasnain along with his unidentified three accomplices was asleep. The suspects attacked police with knives, injured three constables, Shahid Hamid, Faizan Zafar, Yasir Nazir, and managed to flee.
The police chased them and a shoot-out started. During the firing, Hasnain was killed with the firing of his own accomplices who escaped. The injured policemen were rushed to Bahawal Victoria Hospital. Hasnain was reportedly wanted by police.
OKARA: Two men were killed in separate encounters with police and the CCD.
In the first incident, Saddar Depalpur police were on patrol near Bahawal Das when a farmer, Maqsood Ahmad, called, complaining about four robbers who tied up his farm workers to rob a transformer. Police rushed to the site where the shooting started.
After some time, as the shooting stopped, police found two workers with tied hands. They also found a suspect lying dead while his three accomplices had escaped.
Police identified the deceased suspect as Muhammad Jahangir, son of Muhammad Amir, a resident of Nehranwala-Dipalpur who was involved in 28 cases.
