RECENTLY, I went to the Driving Licence Office in Karachi’s Clifton area for the renewal of my licence. What I experienced there was just outstanding and unbelievable. I did not ask anyone for assistance or help, and just followed the instructions as outlined on the notice board. There were at the same time continuous announcements being made for the procedure to be followed without greasing anyone’s palm.

From the time I entered the relevant hall, it took me less than 15 minutes to complete the entire process of registration, verification of details, payment of fee, medical examination, eye test and issuance of the receipt. The experience was really an eye-opener.

I thanked the staff on duty for such a thoroughly efficient and outstanding service. To get this kind of service from a government department was as commendable as it was unbelievable.
