RAWALPINDI: Divisional administration on Saturday asked Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation (RMC) and Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) to complete development works in the garrison city before end of June.
Commissioner Abdul Aamer Khattak conducted a detailed visit to the Wasa projects site at Holy Family Hospital and Raja Bazaar and Commercial Market beautification projects.
Deputy Commissioner Dr Hassan Waqar Cheema, along with representatives from the Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation, Wasa , Iesco, Sui Gas and other departments concernedwere also present on the occasion.
During the briefing, it was informed that 82pc work on Raja Bazaar beautification project has been completed. As per details, 76 percentcivil works has been completed, 96 percent Iesco lines have been relocated, Sui Gas lines 99 percent, PTCL lines 98 percent and Wasa has finished 99 percent work.
Similarly, Commercial Market Beautification Project has achieved 77 percent target.
Under this project, civil works are 63 percent complete, 99 percentIesco lines have been relocated, while PTCL lines have completely relocated.
Commissioner Rawalpindi Engineer Aamir Khattak directed all departments concernedto further strengthen coordination and expedite the remaining work to ensure timely completion of projects.
He said that the completion of these initiatives would not only enhance the city’s beauty but also promote commercial activities and provide better facilities to citizens.
He further instructed that all works related to footpaths, drainage systems, street furniture, signage, landscaping and sanitation be completed in accordance with the highest standards.
Effective traffic management and safety measures should also be ensured during construction activities to minimize inconvenience to the public.
While reviewing the progress of the projects, Mr. Khattak directed that the ongoing work at Holy Family Hospital be completed on a priority basis to minimize inconvenience to patients.
He emphasised that all works should be completed as soon as possible and in accordance with prescribed standards to provide citizens a modern, clean and aesthetically appealing commercial environment.
He further said that the quality of development work would not be compromised and that continuous monitoring would be ensured at every stage.
He said that quality of construction material will also be ensured.
