LONDON: The British Cabinet … decided on Tuesday [June 5] on a compromise plan for settlement of the Anglo-Iranian Oil dispute. The plan calls for “acceptance in principle” of Iran’s nationalization of the Oil industry on condition that Britain maintains a hand in distribution of future oil supplies and their processing. A [news agency] message from Teheran adds: The Shah of Iran ... gave a special audience to the three-man Iranian Board of Management which is to take over the Anglo-Iranian Oil installations. The Board, due to leave here either tomorrow or on Thursday, has stated that the turn-over will be complete in one month. The Deputy Prime Minister, Hossein Fatemi ... was present at this morning audience.

The audience settled doubts which have been expressed here for the past two days whether the Anglo-Iranian decision to send negotiators here for talks would cause a postponement of the Board departure.

The Shah told the temporary Board of Directors he hoped they would make energetic effort to carry out the duties entrusted to them and achieve success.
