ISLAMABAD: China’s Minister Counsellor Yang Guangyuan has expressed strong interest in investment opportunities in Balochistan, stating that the province’s natural resources, mineral wealth and strategic geographical location made it a highly attractive destination for investors.
He said this during a meeting with Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) President Haji Muhammad Ayub Mariani and South Asia Centre for Regional Research Chief Executive Officer Dr Fazalur Rehman at the Chinese embassy in Islamabad.
The meeting focused on promoting investment, trade and business opportunities in Balochistan, with detailed discussions on strengthening commercial linkages between the business communities of the province and Chinese investors.
Both sides also explored prospects for joint ventures and emerging economic opportunities in the region.
Mr Yang said Balochistan held immense investment potential due to its rich mineral reserves and strategic importance, adding that enhanced Pakistan-China cooperation could generate significant economic benefits for both countries.
He particularly highlighted the mining and minerals sector as an area of strong interest for Chinese companies, noting that there was considerable scope for collaboration in exploration and development activities.
The Chinese diplomat assured full cooperation from his office in promoting business-to-business contacts, facilitating direct engagement between investors and encouraging the organisation of joint trade activities.
He emphasised that the longstanding Pakistan-China friendship and economic partnership could be further strengthened through active participation of the private sector, while investment opportunities in Balochistan could prove mutually beneficial for investors from both countries.
