Banna police station SHO Amjid Khan said the 10-year-old boy was assaulted in a nearby forest, where he was grazing his cattle.
Mr Khan said the accused, identified as Naeem, also threatened to kill the minor if he revealed the incident to anyone.
The boy told police that he yelled for help but to no avail. He said later, he reached home and narrated the ordeal to his uncle.
The uncle of the minor stated in his report that upon being informed of the incident, he took his nephew to the police station, while Umer Dad, Aurangzeb, Sarfaraz, Hameedur Rehman, Ziaur Rehman, Saifur Rehman, Tayyab, and Furqan – facilitators of the accused – were positioned outside Naeem’s residence with guns.
They threatened us, shouting that we must not proceed to the police station or lodge an FIR, warning that they would kill all of us if we did.
They then opened fire on us, forcing us to flee back to our home to save our lives, he told the police.
The police said after registering a case under different sections of the Child Protection and Welfare Act, they arrested the suspect during a raid.
