QUETTA, July 7: National Party president Dr Hayee Baloch has condemned the recent attack on Jamhoori Watan Party chief Nawab Akbar Bugti.

In a statement issued here on Friday, he accused the government of trying to eliminate the Baloch leadership, including the JWP leader, as part of its plan to control the resources and coasts of the Baloch people.

Dr Baloch demanded that the military operation in Dera Bugti and Kohlu be stopped so that the Balochistan issue could be resolved politically.

Leaders of the Baloch Students’ Organisation have also condemned the attempt on the life of Nawab Bugti.

BSO chairman Bashir Zeb and secretary-general Dr Majid Baloch said at a press conference that through such acts the government would not be able to frighten the Baloch people or force them to abandon their struggle for their rights.

They claimed that thousands of people had been killed in bombing in Dera Bugti and Kohlu over the past six months, thousands of others had been detained and youths were being tortured in secret cells.
