We come across various inspirational quotes and words that encourage us to stay positive in life. However, we often read them and then forget them just as quickly. This is where an idea popped into my mind: why not create an inspirational signpost craft that keeps these meaningful words right in front of us?
You can personalise the craft by choosing the words that are unique and meaningful to you. Let’s start:
Things you need:
One small plastic sauce container
Craft sticks (small, 5 – 6)
Coloured markers or watercolours
Scissors
Playdough (Colour of your choice)
Hot glue or white glue
Beads or other decorative material (optional)
Black thick marker to write
Directions:
Colour the sticks halfway, keeping the length of the words in mind so that it can be written in the centre of the coloured section of the stick, picture 2.
Cut off the coloured section of each stick; picture 3.
Write the word on this coloured part carefully; picture 4.
Fill the empty plastic container with playdough. I used brown foam playdough as the base for this signpost. You can use any type of playdough; just make sure it is heavy enough to keep the signpost steady on the ground; picture 5.
Glue two sticks together to make a stick twice the original length; picture 6.
Paste the coloured pieces with words on this large signpost stick, keeping equal gaps between each one. Do not align them too straight; place them slightly at different angles to give a more natural look; picture 7.
Insert the stick into the playdough-filled container; picture 8.
You can decorate the signpost using beads or any other material. I kept it simple by making leaves and flowers from foam playdough and pasting them at the top and bottom of this signpost.
This craft is both decorative and meaningful and looks too amazing wherever you place it.
