LAHORE: Diabetes is not merely a clinical condition. It is a social, emotional and national challenge. I would encourage Pakistanis to understand the disease before it defines their lives, said Dr Nauman Niaz, the cricket commentator and broadcaster, at the launch of his book, Myth & Reality: Type II Diabetes & Disease Impact in Pakistan.
The ceremony brought together prominent personalities from different segments of society for an event around one of Pakistan’s most urgent health challenges.
The launch highlighted the growing need for multi-sector collaboration in addressing a condition that affects one-third adult Pakistanis.
Speaking at the event, Mr Khalid Mahmood, executive chairman of Getz Pharma, emphasized his commitment to advancing diabetes care.
“We believe healthcare is not limited to medicines alone. It is also about education, access, prevention and sustained public engagement.” He was hopeful that the book would contribute to the national conversation on diabetes.
