KARACHI: More towns declare rain emergency

KARACHI, July 7: More towns have finalized their rain emergency plans to cope with any eventuality, and emergency has been declared.

Nazim of Shah Faisal Town Mohammed Imran has enforced emergency in the town in view of anticipated rains, cancelled leave of the officials and employees of all the departments and issued orders for schedule of their shift duties during rains.

The Shah Faisal Town administration will remain open 24 hours for public service. The Town Nazim has made the central control room in his Secretariat functional and declared offices of Town's seven Union Councils as complaint centres.

In order to meet any emergency during rainfall and to solve the problems of people, the staff at control room will go into action immediately.

According to an announcement by the Town Administration, people can register their complaints at control room telephone No 9248648 and Fax No 9248647 and get their problems redressed.

In Lyari town, nazim Malik Mohammad Fayyaz has directed the central complaint cell to remain alert. He also cancelled leaves of the concerned officials and staff in awake of expected rains.

The concerned departments of the town have been asked to remain in touch with each other. Residents of the area can register their complaints with central complaints cell on telephone numbers 2543001 and 2511251.

The town nazim also visited the central complaints cell and inspected the preventive arrangements being made.. The Municipal Administration Saddar Town has set up emergency centres and control rooms for quick resolution of the problems of town people during expected monsoon rainfall.

In this connection, central emergency centre has been set up at Khayyal Das Park, Haqqani Chowk, which could be contacted on phone Nos: 021-9211429, 021-9211390 or 021-9213063.

The centres will remain operative round-the-clock to provide maximum relief to people.

The Nazim of Malir Town, Ansar Ahmed Shaikh, visited various areas of Union Councils No. 1 to 5 to inspect the arrangements for expected monsoon. He also directed the concerned officials to take effective measures to cope with situation during expected monsoon rainfall.

The SITE Town Nazim Izharuddin Ahmed had a five-hour visit of Hasrat Mohani Colony, Wilayatabad, and Zubair Colony of the town for seeking information about civic problems being faced by area people.—APP/PPI
