Seminar highlights career opportunities in navy

DADU: The Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS), Jamshoro, in collaboration with the Pakistan Navy, hosted a career awareness seminar to educate students and young doctors about professional, educational, and commissioning opportunities available in the naval service.

The seminar was attended by Director Aca­demics Prof Manzoor Laghari, focal person Prof Farhana Rajpar, faculty members, young doctors and a large number of students from various disciplines.

During the session, PN officials delivered a detailed presentation on the Navy’s tentative recruitment schedule for 2026–27. The participants were informed about a broad spectrum of career opportunities available for officers, sailors, marines, M-Cadets and civilian personnel, explaining to them the eligibility criteria, selection procedures and online registration requirements.

The briefing highlighted multiple induction avenues, including the PN Cadet Programme, Short Service Commission (SSC) and M-Cadet Scheme.

Career prospects in operations, mechanical engineering, weapon engineering, supply, information technology, education, medical services, naval law and other specialised branches were also explained.

Special attention was given to opportunities for medical students and young doctors through the M-Cadet Scheme and various medical branches of the Navy. The participants were informed about pathways to obtain a commission and build a rewarding professional career while serving the nation.

Addressing the audience, Navy officers encouraged talented youth to explore career opportunities within the Pakistan Navy, emphasising that candidates can apply according to their educational qualifications, age criteria and physical fitness standards.

The participants described the seminar as highly informative and beneficial, noting that such awareness initiatives help students make informed career choices while promoting a spirit of national service, leadership and professional excellence.

The event concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, during which PN officers responded to queries regarding recruitment procedures, eligibility requi­rements and career advan­cement opportunities.
