TT team for China

KARACHI, July 6: An 11-member 10th SAF Games bound table tennis squad including five women are due to fly to China from Islamabad on Friday for a four-week training tour.

The trip has been sponsored by the Pakistan Sports Trust (PST) with the aim to provide extensive training to peddlers for the coming assignment.

Pakistan will field a team of five men and an equal number of women in the Colombo spectacle.

The players who will return on August 4 have already undergone strenuous training in the camp under the supervision of Chinese coach in Islamabad.

President, Pakistan Table Tennis Federation (PTTF), S. M. Sibtain, said on Thursday that with one or two adjustments, the team would be finalised on July 15.

He hinted that Rahila Kashif who is not accompanying the team to China following some domestic problems is likely to earn selection in the team.

Squad: Ali Faisal, Saleem Abbas, Asim Qureshi, Kashif Razzak, Hasan Haider, Asim Munir (men); Ghalia Khurshid, Kanwal Iqbal, Sadia Yaseen, Ayesha Iqbal, Sadia Falaksher (women).

Officials: Irfanullah, Tayyaba, Chinese coach.
