KARACHI: Two men, including a suspect who allegedly killed his sister and her male friend in the name of so-called honour last year, were gunned down in the SITE area on Saturday, police said.

South DIG Syed Asad Raza said that around six to seven assailants, travelling in a car and on two motorcycles, arrived at a warehouse near Labour Square in SITE, entered the premises and opened indiscriminate fire on watchmen Qadir Dost Mohammed, 34, and Ali Gohar, 35, and fled.

Both men died on the spot.

During the initial investigation, it emerged that Qadir had allegedly killed Jan Mohammed on January 1, 2025, in Sherpao Colony in the Landhi area, within the jurisdiction of the Quaidabad police. Following the murder, Qadir reportedly fled to his native town in Swabi where he allegedly killed his sister the following day over a so-called honour issue.

DIG says one suspect detained for ‘facilitating double murder’

Subsequently, Qadir had been in hiding and was reportedly living and working with the deceased Ali Gohar at the warehouse for the past few months.

The DIG said it appeared that the heirs of the deceased Jan Mohammed had killed Qadir and the man who provided him shelter in an act of revenge.

He said police had detained one person, Shakeel, on charges of facilitating the double murder following a complaint by the victims’ relatives. Shakeel had reportedly stayed at the warehouse with the victims that night. He allegedly opened the door when the suspects arrived and attacked the two men. He later fled the scene.

DIG Raza said police had obtained CCTV footage of the incident, through which two suspects had been identified.

Investigators collected eight bullet casings and two blood samples from the crime scene.

Raids are underway to arrest the remaining suspects. In addition, requests for call detail records and location data have been forwarded to the police’s technical branch to help trace and arrest the absconding suspects.
