DADU: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has denied that his party has been consulted on any 28th constitutional amendment, warning that no such change could pass the parliament without PPP’s consent.

Speaking to journalists after offering Eidul Azha prayers in his ancestral village of Wahur, Mr Shah said everything circulating about the amendment had come through the media alone — no draft, no proposal and nothing touching on provinces or cities had been put to the PPP.

“No constitutional amendment can be passed by the parliament without the consent of the PPP,” he said, adding that those spreading such rumours ought to answer for them.

The chief minister was equally dismissive of talk of new districts in Sindh, saying no such plan was under consideration.

On the economy, Shah acknowledged rising prices but said any decision on salary increases would follow consultation with the federal government. “Our effort is to ensure minimum burden on the public, especially the poor,” he said, promising that the forthcoming Sindh budget would be people-friendly.

He said the irrigation department was actively working on restoring Manchhar Lake, and that rehabilitation would follow shortly. On the Sehwan beautification scheme, he said he had directed the chief secretary to personally oversee all ongoing projects.
