BAHAWALPUR: A minor girl died while three other persons of the same family were hospitalised in serious condition on Friday after consuming an expired cold drink at Chak 89/DB in tehsil Yazman of Bahawalpur district.

The victims were guests at Chak 89 where they were served cold drinks by their hosts. After consuming cold drinks, which, according to Rescue 1122 emergency service, were expired, three children, including the deceased Maryam (4), Muhammad Ali (12) and Zeeshan (6), and Sumera (25) fell ill.

They were shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Yazman. Maryam (4) expired at the hospital on Friday morning while the condition of other three was stated to be serious.

Yazman Saddar police on receiving information started investigating the case as the leftover expired cold drinks have been seized.

SUICIDE: A man who was wanted in murder of a minor girl allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself to avoid his arrest at Chak 35/WB in the limits of Saddar Vehari Police last night.

According to police, Mahboob Ahmed had kidnapped six-year old girl Dua Fatimah and murdered her last week. Police had registered murder case against him. On a tip-off, police conducted a raid on his hideout at Chak 35/WB where, according to police, Mahboob allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with a revolver. Police called 1122 rescuers who pronounced him dead. Police handed over the body of the deceased to his family.

Meanwhile, Gaggo police claimed to have busted a robbers’ gang and after arrest its two members, Haider Ali and Sajjad Ali, and recovered six snatched motorcycles and other valuables worth lakhs of rupees from their possession.

COBRA: The personnel of Rescue 1122 killed a 10-foot long cobra snake over from a house at Mauza Gullan Di Hatti, 30km from Bahawalpur.

According to the rescuers, one Syed Saghir Bukhari’s family became panicky on seeing a black cobra at their house. The frightened family members ran away from the house and made an emergency call to Rescue 1122. The rescuers caught the snake and killed it there.

ACCIDENT: Two motorcyclists, including woman pillion, were killed while second another woman suffered serious injuries, in a collision between a motorcycle and a car near Jindu Mor in Lodhran district.

According to Lodhran emergency service spokesperson Muhammad Safdar, Sajjad along with his mother Amna Bibi (55) and wife Parveen Bibi (35) was riding his motorcycle. He tried to overtake a motorcycle-rickshaw when he collided with a car coming from the opposite direction.

Amna Bibi died at the spot while Sajjad and Parveen were shifted to hospital where Sajjad also succumbed to his wounds.

Police officials took the car driver into custody.
