DERA GHAZI KHAN: A terrorist attack was carried out by ‘Khawarij elements’ on the Border Military Police (BMP) police station in Chitarwata, located in the Koh-i-Sulaiman tehsil’s tribal area of Punjab, official sources told Dawn.

Koh-i-Sulaiman Political Assistant and BMP Commandant Ameer Taimoor said that as a result of the attack, the police station building had been damaged, however, all BMP personnel remained safe.

He further maintained that soon after the incident, law enforcement agencies responded promptly and cleared the affected site. He said that security had been further tightened in the area, and monitoring of internal and external routes had been increased.

He urged the citizens not to pay attention to rumours or unverified information and to immediately report any suspicious activity to the relevant authorities.

Mr Taimoor said all possible measures were underway to protect the lives and property of the citizens, and the atmosphere of peace and order would be upheld at all costs.
