OKARA: Police claimed on Tuesday to have arrested a suspect accused of raping a physically challenged 10-year-old boy in the Nathuwala locality near Haveli Lakha around 12 days ago.
According to the first information report (FIR), the complainant’s physically challenged son, identified as ‘S’, said suspect ‘A’ had allegedly raped him behind a mosque in the locality some 10 to 12 days back.
Acting on the complaint lodged by the victim’s father, Haveli Lakha police registered a case under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code after completing legal formalities. Police claimed the suspect had been arrested.
FOUND DEAD: A man who had been missing for four days was found dead in fields near his village, police said.
According to the FIR, the complainant’s 28-year-old son, Zahid Ali, left home four days ago in the afternoon. Later that night, Zahid informed his family by phone that he would return home after some time, but his mobile phone was switched off. Despite efforts, the family could not trace him.
His father, Muhammad Irshad, later got a case of abduction registered under Section 365 of the PPC.
A day earlier, villagers noticed a foul smell coming from nearby fields and found a body, which was later identified as Zahid Ali.
Following the recovery of the body, Dhlyana police added Section 302 of the PPC to the previously registered FIR No. 145/26.
Meanwhile, police claimed that Zahid Ali was allegedly a drug addict and had died after consuming alcohol with his friends.
However, police said they had detained one of Zahid’s friends, Kashif alias Kashi, on the basis of the victim’s call data record and were investigating the case.
