Asked how close he was to striking Iran before calling off the operation, US President Donald Trump says he was “an hour away”.

“We were all set to go,” he tells reporters. “We were going to be striking … it would have been happening right now. Now it’s all done, the boats and ships are all loaded to the brim, and we’re all set to start.”
