Man dies of gastro in Vehari

VEHARI, July 4: A man was killed and dozens of others hospitalised with complaints of gastroenteritis in Chak 24/WB here on Tuesday Bashir reportedly died before getting first aid.

A dispenser of a rural health centre confirmed that dozens of patients were admitted with gastroenteritis. He said about 50 patients have been discharged during the last 24 hour after providing first aid and vaccination.

When the matter came to the notice of the health department, they set up a camp in the area. According to DHO Dr Ghazanfar Abbas, more than 35 patients were treated in the camp on Tuesday. However, he denied the death of a man. He claimed that he died of heat stroke and heart failure.

When contacted, DHQ hospital medical superintendent Dr Nasir Dilshad said only one patient with food poisoning was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday.

However, a hospital source identified some of those hospitalised on Tuesday as Zakia, Umar, Zakir, Imran Daha, Ilyas, Allah Ditta, Qayyum, Bashir, Robina, Hameed Ali, Ruksana, etc.
