BAHAWALPUR: The local wildlife officials claimed to have set free a 20kg python, captured by a snake charmer, from the fields in Raja Ram area near Lodhran.

According to the officials, the two-meter-long python was spotted by farmers of Raja Ram in their fields.

The farmers got panicked and called a local snake charmer, who captured the python.

On receipt of the information, local wildlife officials rushed to the scene and took the python in custody. It was later released in its natural habitat near Lodhran.

A couple of days back, Lodhran wildlife official had recovered two rare Indian pythons from a local juggler, who was arrested. The pythons were later moved to Bahawalpur Zoo.

The officials had also seized two non-venomous constrictor snakes – boas – which were released in the Cholistan’s desert.
