KARACHI: Two hit-and-run drivers killed three motorcyclists in two incidents in Defence and Gulistan-i-Jauhar on Friday, officials said.
Two young men were run over and killed by a fast-moving trailer on main Korangi Road in the Defence area in the small hours of Friday morning, police said.
They said Hamza Shakeel, 20, and Sumair Iqbal, 22 were riding a motorcycle when a trailer hit them at Defence Mor towards Punjab Chowrangi at around 3:30am. Both persons died on the spot.
The bodies were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities.
Defence SHO Ashraf Jogi said the trailer driver managed to escape from the spot along with the heavy vehicle.
He attributed reckless driving as the main cause of the accident.
In the second incident, a teenager was killed and another injured in hit-and-run accident in Gulistan-i-Jauhar on Friday evening.
Area SHO Naveed Soomro said the teenagers were riding a motorcycle when an unidentified car hit them near Kamran Chowrangi, resulting in death of Umer Saifullah, 18, and injuries to Ali Karim, 16.
The body and injured were shifted to the JPMC for medico-legal formalities.
The police said efforts underway to trace and arrest the hit-and-run driver.
