LAHORE: At least three persons were killed and 24 were injured in rain and windstorm related incidents across Punjab during the last 36 hours.

Punjab Rescue 1122 spokesperson Farooq Ahmad said strong winds and rain caused roofs, walls, trees and billboards to collapse in several districts, leading to multiple casualties and injuries.

In Lahore, two persons were killed and six were injured in separate incidents involving falling trees, sheds and billboards. Near Lorry Adda in Badami Bagh, a tree fell during the storm, killing 50-year-old Ejaz and injuring another person.

In another incident near Rang Mahal, a shed collapsed during strong winds and rain, killing 21-year-old Bilal, the spokesperson said. One more person was injured after a billboard collapsed in the city.

In Faisalabad, a 13-year-old boy, identified as Haider Ali, died after a wall collapsed in Sultan Chowk during heavy winds and rain. Nine persons were injured in seven incidents involving collapsing walls, roofs and trees.

Three persons were injured in two separate lightning strike incidents in Dera Ghazi Khan, while in Muzaffargarh four people suffered injuries in separate incidents involving fallen trees, solar panels and walls.

In Jhang, a man was injured after a signboard collapsed during strong winds while another man was injured in Nankana Sahib after a wall fell down.

The Rescue 1122 spokesperson said the seriously injured were given first aid and shifted to nearby hospitals.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department forecast rain-wind/thunderstorms, with isolated hailstorms, in parts of Punjab and adjoining regions on Saturday.

According to the forecast, rain is expected in Kashmir, Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, the Potohar region, Layyah, Bhakkar, Khushab, Mianwali, Sargodha, Lahore, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Sialkot, Narowal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur, Multan, Khanewal and Jhang.
