HYDERABAD, July 4: The son and daughter of Asif Baladi, president of the Sindh Nationalist Forum (SNF), have appealed to human rights organisations and nationalist leaders to support their efforts to find their father.

Speaking at a press conference at the press club here on Tuesday, Jibran Baladi and Ropa Baladi said that on June 26, their father had gone to the Defence area of Karachi to meet a friend but he never returned home.

They said that they had contacted friends of their father but they had no information about him.

They said that they had received a message from their father asking them to hand over his passport and NIC to some people who would be visiting the house.

They said that a few days back a couple of people came to their house and asked for passport and NIC.

They alleged that their father had been kidnapped by state agencies and was being tortured.

They said that they were being harassed and threatened with dire consequences on telephone and were advised not to talk to media.

They said that they had already informed the relevant authorities about the disappearance of their father and would also file a writ in the Sindh High Court.

They appealed to human rights organisations and nationalist leaders to extend their support in locating their father.

Answering a question, they said that the only motive behind disappearance of their father could be to sabotage the “Paigham-i-Sindh conference” which he had announced to convene next year.
