LAHORE, July 3: The bay colt, Tuman Khan owned by the United Arab Emirate (UAE) Ambassador in Islamabad, Ali Muhammad Al-Shamsi, completed a hat trick of winning the feature event of the Summer Meeting on the opening day of the Lahore season 2006-7 at the Racecourse on Sunday.
A joint favourite with Top Cat, Tuman Khan was steered home by Shahid Rehman and trained by Haji Ghulam Sarwar. He beat Baker's Gal by four lengths while Top Cat finished third.
Tuman Khan had won two back-to-back races earlier.
Bay colt First Look, who won the supporting and fifth race over 1100 metres clocked the fastest ever time of one minute 8 1/5 seconds for the distance of 1100 metres over dust track.
The colt improved by a fraction the earlier record time of one minute 8 2/5 seconds set up by Baker's Gal over the grass track in August 2004.
Jockey Shahid Rehman and Haji Ghulam Sarwar opened the season on triumphant note each scoring a double. Shahid Rode Julia Robert and Tuman Khan while Haji sent out First Look and Tuman Khan.
Three riding boys were punished for unsatisfactory riding. Azhar Hussain was fined rupees 10000 on Jago in the opener while Waqas Hadi partnering Royal Fish and M. Hussain on Scarlet Princess were stood down for two months each in the fourth race.
