Two arrested in Khyber for murder

KHYBER: The Bara police on Saturday tracked down the killers of a teenage boy whose body was found in a field a few days ago.

The police said that Mehran, the only brother of five sisters, was murdered on April 30 in Meelwat locality of Akkakhel when he was returning home after attending a wedding ceremony in the family.

The murder of Mehran had angered the residents, as the family of the deceased had no enmity with anyone.

Following the murder, district police officer Waqar Ahmad had constituted a team which started investigations while visiting the site of the incident and taking several suspects into custody.

The police apprehended Adil and Jamroz, residents of Madakhel, for their alleged involvement in the murder.

During interrogation, the two suspects revealed that they had a friendship with the deceased and did not want him to go abroad for a job.

Meanwhile, the police in Jamrud on Saturday arrested an alleged fraudster, who was accused of collecting money from Afghan families who were aspiring to return to Afghanistan via the Torkham border.

The police said that the accused, Rotaz Khan, was receiving money from drivers of the vehicles in which the Afghan families were taken to the border for their out-of-turn onward journey to save them from a long wait at Bhagiyarree checkpost.

The arrested man, according to the police, was introducing himself to the Afghan families and transporters as an employee of the district administration.
