Woman accused of killing infant son in Taxila

TAXILA: A woman allegedly killed her infant son within the jurisdiction of Rango Police Station in Hazro on Tuesday.

Police sources said that a man, identified as Mehtab, brought the body of his four months old son to the police station and accused his wife of being responsible for her death. Acting on the father’s statement, police detained the child’s mother for questioning and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

According to initial findings, the infant had visible injury marks on the head, prompting authorities to treat the case as suspicious. The body has been shifted for medical examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Police officials stated that further action will be taken in light of the medical report and evidence collected, while the investigation into the alleged domestic dispute and related circumstances is ongoing.

Eight arrested

Attock police have arrested eight individuals during a crackdown on gambling activities in the Hazro area, recovering cash worth Rs980,000 along with quails used in betting.

According to police, the operation was carried out by Rango police station during routine patrolling after receiving information from a source that several individuals were engaged in gambling through quail fighting at a volleyball ground in Formuli in Hazro police station limits.
