KARACHI: Tribunal examines video footage of Nishter Park tragedy

KARACHI, July 1: Nishter Park Tribunal, headed by Justice Rahmat Hussain Jaffery of Sindh High Court, adjourned the proceedings on Saturday after examining the three video footages captured on April 11 by camera corps of different private television channels at Nishter Park public gathering.

The proceedings of the day were reserved for viewing video footage produced by private television channels to search the evidences.

In a video recording, Mr Jaffery expressed suspicion about a man, Qadeer, who had already appeared before the court as a witness.

The video footage showed that the Qadeer was travelling in a truck, which participated in a Rabi-ul-Awwal procession on April 11.

The video recordings also contained shots/scenes of Ulema while they were offering Maghreb prayers at Nishter Park on 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal, and dismantling of the stage which was built for Nishter Park public gathering.

In another video footage, shots/ scenes about situation in and outside the accident and emergency wards of the different hospitals in Karachi was focussed where ambulances were rushing along with victims of Nisther Park tragedy.

Later, the tribunal put off proceedings till its next session on Monday 11.30am.—APP
