RAHIM YAR KHAN, June 30: Heavy rain on Wednesday morning and Thursday night damaged hundreds of electricity meters and dozens of transformers in the town.
The five sub-divisions (falling under Mepco) received nearly 400 complaints, with a majority of them pertaining to meter malfunctioning.
Most of the complainants who thronged the City sub-division were told that new meters were not available. Only those who greased the palms of Mepco employees were successful.
Customers not ready to bribe were asked to submit a Rs20 affidavit each that they would pay average bill to get direct supply from poles. SE Faqir Muhammad Khan said that hundreds of complaints had been received. He said the city sub-division had been given 100 meters to meet the damand.
