LAKKI MARWAT, June 30: District Nazim Humayun Saifullah Khan on Friday presented a tax-free budget with a total outlay of slightly over Rs896 million for the fiscal year 2006-07.
Mr Saifullah said that of the total budget, Rs31.69 million would be spent for development projects while Rs832.88 million had been set aside as non-development expenditure.
The budget was approved at the end of the district council session.
The district nazim said that Rs 23.34 million would be spent under education reforms project. The budget session was also attended by DCO Kifayatullah Khan, ACO Syed Khalid Israr Shah, District Collector Malik Damsaz Khan, EDO (finance and planning) Naimatullah Khan and EDO (schools and literacy) Attaullah Khan Meenakhel.
The district nazim said that out of the total development allocations, Rs19.84 million had been earmarked for new schemes, while Rs11.84 million would be spent on ongoing schemes.
The nazim said that Rs4.96 million had been reserved for Citizen-Community Boards, Rs5.895 million for water supply schemes, health and infrastructure sectors and Rs8.842 million for small schemes.
