RAWALPINDI: The divisional administration on Wednesday asked the district administrations of Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Chakwal and Jhelum to complete the beautification drive in their respective areas.

Commissioner Abdul Aamer Khattak, while chairing a meeting regarding ongoing beautification projects across Rawalpindi division, directed that all schemes be completed within the stipulated timelines without any compromise on quality.

The review meeting, held at the RDA office, was attended by Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Director General Ahmed Hassan Ranjha, Chief Officer Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation Imran Ali, and heads of other concerned departments, while deputy commissioners of Attock, Jhelum, Murree and Chakwal also participated via video link.

A detailed review of the progress of beautification projects across the division was conducted during the meeting.

It was briefed that a total of 17 beautification schemes are currently underway in the Rawalpindi division. Specifically, two schemes are in Attock, two in Chakwal, four in Jhelum, four in Murree and five in Rawalpindi.

Regarding progress, it was shared that the Main Bazaar Attock Beautification Project has been completed up to 49 per cent, while the beautification of the Seri Panjah Sahib entrance road stands at 40 per cent.

In Chakwal, beautification work in Chappar Bazaar and Main Talagang Bazaar has reached 70 per cent completion.

In Jhelum, 22 per cent work on the upgradation of the Main Bazaar has been completed, while in Murree, the Barriyan Bazaar beautification project has achieved 76 per cent completion.

In Rawalpindi, the Raja Bazaar Beautification Project is 68 per cent complete, Commercial Market stands at 67 per cent, and KRL Road has reached 82 per cent completion. The commissioner stated that the objective of these beautification projects is to provide citizens with a clean, organised and aesthetically pleasing environment.

The commissioner directed all district administrations to focus on cleanliness, plantation drives, wall painting, restoration of streetlights, and removal of encroachments in their respective areas. He emphasised that public spaces, markets and major roads should be upgraded in line with modern standards.

He also instructed the concerned departments to ensure daily monitoring of the projects and to immediately address any hurdles.

He reiterated that public facilitation and urban beautification should remain top priorities of the government, and that all available resources would be utilised to achieve these goals.
