Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri says the United States is making an effort to extend a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, the pan-Arab Asharq al-Awsat cites him as saying, according to Reuters.

Berri spoke to the newspaper after a meeting with the US ambassador to Lebanon, Michel Issa.
