Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in addition to its foreign minister and military, has also now condemned the desecration of a crucifix smashed by an Israeli soldier in a southern Lebanese village home to Christians.
Netanyahu said that the soldier’s actions went against Jewish values of tolerance.
“I was stunned and saddened to learn that an IDF soldier damaged a Catholic religious icon in southern Lebanon. I condemn the act in the strongest terms,” he wrote on X.
“Military authorities are conducting a criminal probe of the matter and will take appropriately harsh disciplinary action against the offender,” he was quoted as saying by his office.
