TAXILA: A session court in Pindigheb on Saturday has sentenced a man to death on two counts for the murder of his wife and her alleged paramour in his house located in the Khoar area in the limits of Pindigheb Police station on June 10, 2024.

According to prosecution details, the convict, Mubashir Ahmad, had an arranged marriage with Ghazala Bibi some 12 years ago and had two children.

Later, the woman developed relations with Ibrar Hussain, the cousin of her husband and married and serving as a waiter in Rawalpindi.

Mubashir Ahmed committed a double murder by stabbing his wife and his paramour for allegedly being in relationship. After the murder, he fled from the scene, leaving both in a pool of blood.

On getting information, the police reached the crime scene and shifted the bodies to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for autopsy, and the police registered a double murder case against the nominated accused under sections 302 and 311 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

After a full trial, Additional Sessions Judge Pindigheb, Muhammad Asif, on Saturday handed down the verdict on the basis of evidence and witness testimonies, awarding the accused two death sentences along with a fine of Rs700, 000.

The court directed that the fine be paid to the legal heirs of the deceased. In case of default, the convict will face further legal penalties in accordance with the law.

Meanwhile, police on Saturday arrested a man and his accomplice in Gakhar village in Bhattar Police Station limits in the Fatehjang town of Attock on charges of allegedly drugging his wife, facilitating gang sexual assault, and recording explicit videos.

The complainant stated that she had been married to the accused for approximately one and a half years. She alleged that shortly after the marriage, her husband began bringing friends to their home and would allegedly administer intoxicating substances to her.

The woman expressed suspicion that she was being subjected to sexual assault while under the influence. She said her concerns were confirmed when she discovered a memory card near her husband’s bed during routine cleaning, which reportedly contained explicit videos of her.

Upon receiving the complaint, Bahter Police registered a case against the accused and an accomplice and launched an immediate search to identify any additional suspects involved in the alleged crime.
