Work on Swabi grid station in full swing

SWABI: Construction work is in full swing to operationalise the 220 KVA grid station in the district at an estimated cost of Rs24 billion.

The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) officials told Dawn on Friday that construction work was underway on the grid station situated in Anbar area near the Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway.

Upon completion, the project is expected to address the issue of low voltage, power tripping and long hours of outage.

These problems have irked the residents of Swabi for years. Pesco officials said that work on the project was in full swing, adding the provincial government had been asked to provide funds and machinery to operationalise the scheme at the earliest.

This project will help meet the electricity needs of consumers across the district besides providing power to the industries in the Gadoon Amazai Industrial Estate.

This will also benefit the cigarette-manufacturing units. Officials said that the project, upon completion, would enable Pesco to provide uninterrupted power supply to consumers in Swabi.
