Saudi Arabia has “strongly condemned” the attack on United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) that killed a French soldier and injured several others, a statement by the country’s foreign ministry says.

The ministry “affirms the Kingdom’s complete rejection of all forms of violence”.

The ministry reiterates the country’s support for the mission, and stresses that the perpetrators be held “accountable and receive a deterrent punishment”.

It also extends condolences to the government and people of France, and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured.
