The Iranian ISNA news agency has quoted Mahmoud Nabavian — an official it described as a member of Iran’s negotiating team — as saying that some commercial ships will be permitted to cross the Strait of Hormuz, but only after paying fees, according to Al Jazeera.
Nabavian has linked the opening of the waterway to the ceasefire in Lebanon, despite US President Donald Trump denying that the two issues were associated.
Both Trump and Iranian officials have issued conflicting claims about the deal to reopen Hormuz and the broader understanding being negotiated between Washington and Tehran. However, neither country has released an official text of any agreement.
