A South Korean vessel carrying oil from Saudi Arabia has departed the Middle East via the Red Sea, Seoul’s Fisheries Ministry said, Al Jazeera reports.

It marks the first crude shipment to South Korea from the region since Iran began a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

South Korea’s government has implemented a number of measures to counter fuel shortages since the Middle East conflict began.
