Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun has thanked US President Donald Trump for his efforts to “secure lasting peace and stability”, his office has said on X after a phone call between the two leaders, Al Jazeera reports.

“He wished for the continuation of these efforts to stop the fire at the earliest possible time,” the statement says.

“Trump responded with his support for President Aoun and Lebanon, and his emphasis on his commitment to meeting the Lebanese request for a ceasefire at the earliest possible time.”
