PESHAWAR: Special assistant to the chief minister on information and public relations Shafi Jan on Wednesday said the provincial government was undertaking effective and result-oriented measures to provide affordable, quality and secure housing facilities to the people across the province.
Addressing a joint news conference with housing minister Dr Amjad Ali, the chief minister’s special assistant said that the KP government, under the vision of PTI founder Imran Khan, successfully delivered key housing projects aimed at improving living standards and expanding access to planned residential infrastructure.
He said that over the last 12 years, the KP government had completed seven major housing schemes at a cumulative cost of Rs34 billion.
Mr Jan said those projects, successfully executed over 9,497 kanals of land, delivered 10,477 housing units, including plots and flats, ensuring the provision of affordable and well-planned residential options to residents.
Jan says work in progress on seven large-scale housing projects
He said that work was in progress on seven additional large-scale housing projects with an estimated cost of Rs31 billion, adding that upon completion, the schemes would provide 38,784 residential units over an area of 30,447 kanals, significantly enhancing housing facilities in the province.
While highlighting pro-poor initiatives, he said the government had launched ‘Ehsaas Apna Ghar Scheme’ under which interest-free loans of up to Rs1.5 million were being extended to eligible beneficiaries for construction and expansion of houses.
He said that funds had already been disbursed to 114 successful applicants through a transparent balloting process, while work on the second phase of the scheme had also been initiated.
Mr Jan announced that the PC-I of the flagship New Peshawar Valley project had been approved. He said that spanning over 106,000 kanals, the mega housing initiative was expected to become a modern, integrated urban development.
He said that work on other key projects including Jarma Township, Bani Gul City Bannu, Hangu Township, Dangram Housing Scheme Swat and Mega City Nowshera was also under way.
The special assistant to the CM said that all housing-related services had been digitized and integrated with the Dastak App to ensure transparency, efficiency and ease of access for the people.
He said the housing authority had made significant progress over the past four months in development, administrative and legal domains.
“To promote transparency, the e-Pads System has been implemented, while revised Land Sharing Regulations 2025 have also been approved,” he said.
Mr Jan said the Housing Foundation had been established to facilitate provision of residential facilities to government employees.
He said around 96,000 employees had registered with the foundation, with 75,000 already issued digital cards.
